Paint Party Friday - Week 22 -Artist's Way Journal page and Frame within a Frame

Not the most productive painting week, I'm afraid! Oh, well. At least I have one thing to show for PPF!

I love finding heart shaped rocks! Two!

Over the summer I have slowly been working through The Artist's Way and I am now on Chapter 6 where one of the exercises is to go rock hunting and find 5 (ish) stones that you like. (I'd started ahead of Paula and Ileana et al and haven't really been talking about it much here so far.)  While I am having a bit of a love/hate relationship with this book, I am still working through it with a friend. I finally figured out where in town I might possibly find some nice rocks and went on an Artist's Date looking for some to take home. And I thought it would be fun to paint them too! (Not part of the exercise.) It's always a thrill when I find heart shaped rocks.

And speaking of heart shaped rocks.... I noticed that Kat at Kat Eye View, for her Exploring with a Camera series this week, has the theme of a Frame within a Frame. It made me think of this photo I took in Mexico through rough coral.

A few minutes later I found a big heart shaped piece of coral just as a bride and groom were walking by! So I gave it to their parents (the bride and groom had gone on already) to give to them.

I'm away this weekend so I probably won't be visiting until after Tuesday but I will try to visit you all then! Have a wonderful weekend and a great Paint Party Friday!!

(P.S. My ICADs this week are mostly zen doodles and aren't painted - I'll post them when I have more free time.)

Mostly Bliss with Zen Doodling Distractions

I stayed --mostly-- focused on the theme of Bliss this week for CED2010. Zen doodling distracted me from it on a few days though!

Monday: Distracted!

Tuesday: Dark, strong, black coffee - just one - gets the day off to a blissful start!

Wednesday: I love it when cherries are in season!

Thursday: Summer Bliss - floating around in the pool on a hot summer's day!

Friday: Walking to the corner store and getting a chocolate popsicle...

Saturday: Seeing your 89 year old Dad perform in a tap dance recital! (accompanied by his instructor)

Seeing he hasn't lost his sense of humour!

Then later, zen doodling before bed...

Sunday: Clear skies and a radiant Moon = Bliss!

Hope you found incidents of Bliss in your week!

Looking forward to seeing all of your updates! Have a great and creative week!

Doodling Away... in one form or another

Another week and another seven small creations. Still on my mind were the story threads from last week. A bit of fitness, a bit of Alice and doodling - some zen and some pencil.

Wednesday: I have been looking at the sky a lot lately and noticing things I haven't noticed before. Finally we have had a clear week (until the weekend of course!) and on this day especially, the sunset was phenomenal! And I was driving by a location where it was particularly visible but not blinding. (Usually I am driving East at that time of day and only see rear view window or mirror sunsets.) I had never really noticed before that the sky is lighter at the horizon and darker overhead. No doubt I have been colouring skies wrong all my life (not that I have coloured a lot of skies). As soon as I arrived home I quickly tried to capture the sky with watercolours in my CED2010 book. I'm thinking that one of the benefits of CED2010 is increased attention to details and seeing things in different lights, with a more considered perspective.

Sunday: My favourite this week, I think.

I am very happy I am still on track with the CED2010 challenge and with my fitness challenge of exercising 5 times a week. I wish the pounds were dropping like flies but they aren't . Fitness however is the goal and I am becoming fitter . Also this week I created a presentation for a conference I'm attending on Tuesday, and a little collage of last week's "walking with a camera" outing. The theme was change and here is the collage. Wish I could have captured the sound of the melting, running and draining water.

And I was the beneficiary of others' creativity. I decided to bid on one of the amazing pieces of art in Inspiration Avenue's recent Art Auction. Soon this lovely piece by the very talented Lisa of Priti Studio will be making it's way to me. The Moon, Stars, the Sea, - how perfect!

Hope you had a great creative week!
All the best for this new week! I'm looking forward to seeing your creations!
