I've been working away at a fun little sketch/painting for Mr. Toast's Creative Tuesday * and didn't get much painting done this week. But I still wanted to come to the party and have been wanting to try painting abstracts and also to try using a limited pallette.
Well.... not so sure I was successful but here it is! Not quite the abstract look I was going for but it might be an abstract landscape....
It's only on a heavy paper so instead of trying to fix it, I think I will move on to another experiment. (My paper is too big for my scanner - I think I need a bigger scan-bed!)
Hope you have a great time at the Paint Party Friday and have a great week with some experimentation in it!
* Come back Tuesday to see my fun and silly little piece!
I think you abstract is looking good. I see a lot of texture there and do like the background. Love the bright oranges as well. Happy PPF, have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou've got a good start. . . I think you could go on with it. Love it, Yep, time for a new scanner. Thanks for hosting. Blessings, Janet PPF
ReplyDeleteHi Eva!
ReplyDeleteI love that you worked with a limited palette and were still able to come up with something this clever - perfect trees for Fall!
Happy PPF, xo
It is looking good! But if you are not feeling it (and I do know the feeling!( use it for a start, and layer on it. It has great colors!
ReplyDeleteLove the colour palette and the zen like quality. beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks really great.
ReplyDeleteThe fun thing about art is there is no right or wrong.. :-)
Love it.
☻
Cool painting!
ReplyDeleteI need a new scanner too!!
ReplyDeleteInteresting effect. To me it is sunrise over the forest in winter with the mist lingering.
Love your work.. not much of an abstract for me. Love the colors. It made me remember of autumn in other countries. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like an abstract landscape to me. :) Great work!
ReplyDeleteSmashing picture and great texture. Happy PPF, Annette x

it's got a Japanese vibe to it that I think is really cool. those trees are dreamy.
ReplyDeleteI like it, I think its got a zen like thing going on,, I would love a bigger scanner bed, I can't see it happening for me so I hope it does for you, LOL, happy paint party friday!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like one of those bright red mornings where the sun is burning through a heavy fog.
ReplyDeleteMakes me want to be watching the sun come up at a cabin, drinking a big steaming mug of coffee.
I love it! The simplicity of it is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF!
Eva I love it!! Very cool landscape! Love the orange!! I think its great! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeletegreat lesson and example of " less is more" that is a great color..I like it very much and it makes me think of time I spent on Lake Superior in the upper Peninsula of Michigan. Now if I can just remember to do less and come up with more , once in awhile.. need to un-clutter my art and let it be what it is.

Lovely earthy tones. Cool concept about the palette.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a clue about abstracts but I know it is fun to experiment. And you never know when you might hit on something you really like!
ReplyDeleteI like the simple elegance of it! Very nice!
ReplyDeleteI like the limited palette. It has a nice Autumn feeling to it.
ReplyDeleteits beautiful
ReplyDeletereminds me of a reflection of autmumn leaves rippling in the water
I like your limited palette here, and you've got some very nice texture going on as well - I think it's looking great!!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Will be interesting to see if you come back to it later with a different perspective and paint away!
ReplyDeleteEva, I love this one, especially the sun or moon there!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea in limiting your palette I always do that when I need a bit of a creative tune up... and I love working on paper because then when things don't work I can tear them up and use them in other pieces xx
ReplyDeleteLovely, reminds me a bit that waver-y quality a mirage has! ~Happy Paint Party Friday! #9 Robin Panzer Art Studio 33
ReplyDeleteThe painting has a very peaceful and rather asiatic feel to it! Valerie
ReplyDeleteI like it and can see that if you wanted to, you could use it going forward and add more. I love the soft oranges.
ReplyDeleteI really like the composition, very balanced by the shapes. I love the colors, too, calming, although in the warm family.
ReplyDeleteHi Eva I really love this piece! I struggle with muted tones and abstract so I really appreciate this! I think it's great and i love the tones you chose! Great work :0)
ReplyDeleteEva it will just come to you when it is ready...abstract what is it all about, what is the meaning of it? If it means something to you it will come. Lol in the meantime just enjoy the process. Thanks for helping me out when my link broke twice. You are a star! I hope I have done it right this time!!!!

Your limited palette abstract looks great to me. Looks asian, really. Faye
ReplyDeleteHi Eva! I like your abstract piece. I agree with the other comments...it has an oriental feel. It's lovely.
ReplyDeleteHi Eva, I like the li,ited palette, and experiments are always good. I think I should experiment more.
ReplyDeleteHappy Pff, Ev
I Love how simple and clean this is- I agree that it brings to mind a sunrise in a misty forest- so lovely and peaceful.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that it can be hard to work with a palette of neutrals- anything outside of your regular comfort zone will feel "off" at first.....

ReplyDeleteI like it Eva, great job! I especially like the colors you picked and the texture to the piece.
ReplyDelete:) Jaime
Go on with it. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi. This has a very nice reflective feel to it, as if the trees are on land and are being reflected by a lake. The colors are great.
