I'm back from Victoria, leaving my daughter behind to start 2nd year university. (Sob - bittersweet.) Where do the years go? While we were there I didn't have much time to paint, so this week I thought I'd show you another page from my Walking in my World journal.
This year I have seen 2 fascinating hollow trees on my walks - still alive and prospering. This is one...
Who lives here?
I wonder. It looks like it would make some fairies a great home! Do chipmunks reside within? Or maybe this is the tree that Alice fell into? So magical to see such a hollow tree.
Hope you all have a great time at Paint Party Friday. I will try to be more timely visiting this week (though I am writing a paper so I may be focused on that... then again, I may need distractions because of that...)
I like hollow trees too. Your sketch leaves me wondering who's in there as well. I remember when my daughter left for college....it was hard. Yes time does go by way too quickly. Happy PPF. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love all trees and your sketch is awesome. Life is short Eva and we've got to enjoy every moment. Good luck with your paper. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteAhhh this is so pretty! I love the knot on the tree. I know what its like to let go of your little girl when she goes to college. When I dropped off Nelly at college I cried my eyes out all the way home!
ReplyDeleteYou can come by early or late, anytime is wonderful, I love the premise this hole in the tree sets up, like the story goes beyond the 2 dimensional... it works on the imagination! Pleased your daughter is starting 2nd year uni, you must hate to leave but I bet you really look forward to that next break you get back together for catch up :) Lovely post Eva!
ReplyDeleteTrees are so interesting especially this type of tree. Terrific job. Enjoy the weekend and happy PPF, Annette x
ReplyDeleteI'd go with naked gnomes. :) Great one!
ReplyDeleteWow! Wonderful ~ Love trees with hollows ~ Makes me think of The Hobbit~Happy PPF ~ Carol (Share the Creative Journey)
ReplyDeleteWe have a massive hollow tree in our woods... well, part of it, because the top half fell a few years ago. Most of the base is still there... my kids (4 & 6) can fit inside, one at a time. It's fun to imagine what 'could' live there. Love your sketch and imagination :)
ReplyDeleteAn intriguing artwork ... full of whimsy! ;)
ReplyDeleteHa, I'm giggling to Natasha's comment!Ilove hollowed trees too. We saw some awesome giant ones at Big Trees State park a couple months ago. Never thought about painting them, hmmm... I think I see a little red and black newt in there! Great painting!Deb
ReplyDeleteLove this sketch. I always imagine Mr. Badger's house from Wind in the Willows, one of my favorite books ever.
ReplyDeleteLove your Hollow tree. Yes time goes by quickly, my daughter is in her last year at the university but the university is in my town and she lives nearby...not that I can see her a lot with all the homework and such.
ReplyDeleteoh, a fairy magical and fun place for sure! Love it! POP ART MINIS
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain with a daughter in 2nd year uni, but it was better this year. Your hollow tree is fascinating, don't think I've ever seen one of those in real life.
ReplyDeleteNice sketch; I like hollow trees too. Saw some hollow olive trees in Italy; still alive and making olives but you could see all the way through the base of them!
ReplyDeleteOh, love this hollow tree! The stories you can create from it! I say, enjoy visiting PPF as a break from your paper occasionally. :)
ReplyDeletethis is beautiful...I love big old mysterious trees like this!! Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteI love hollow trees and imagine these cool places that are all furnished in them!!!! Happy PPF!!!
ReplyDeleteooo a magical home for a family of fairies!
ReplyDeleteLovely job catching the depth and shadow of that hollow space. Makes me want to go out and build a little fairy house. (though last time I did this I ended up with poison ivy from finger tips to elbows!)
ReplyDeleteI love your trees! Hollow trees are so magical arn't they?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your hollow tree- great drawing and it takes me back to when my daughters and I once left letters and flowers for the fairies in our garden. Thanks for the memory!
ReplyDeleteYour hollow tree is really magical! I think squirrels live up in the branches so I'm guessing it may be something larger that lives there! Your painting is really great.
ReplyDeleteI forgot again to shift to wordpress for my signature, so this comment is a duplicate or sorts. Your hollow tree really is magical. I think that squirrels live up in the branches so I'm thinking something larger might live in the hole! Your painting is so beautiful. Faye

It does look like some fairies live here. Or the root children that I told me daughter about. Beautiful painting.
ReplyDeleteMagical things are everywhere if you only have the eyes to see them! I love that you found this tree and honored it with this illustration... and shared it with us.
ReplyDeleteNow write that paper, you important person, you!
♥♥♥
how magical. maybe a gnome.
ReplyDeletePretty painting today. Looks like a fairy pathway. Sorry about my link, I must have had a brain hiccup. Every other week I linked to the post. So sorry.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tree! Don't you just love finding trees like that on walks. I spotted a few amazing trees on my trip in Tahoe. Nature is such a gift. I bet it is home to many a creature. xo
ReplyDeleteIt is not only the sea but the trees that carry the magic on the breeze and everything else in between that mother nature brings. How lovely to come upon such a magical secret place surely belonging to a little tiny creature.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on this. Thanks for sharing!
