Paint Party Friday - Week 26 Who lives here? WimW Journal

I'm back from Victoria, leaving my daughter behind to start 2nd year university. (Sob - bittersweet.) Where do the years go? While we were there I didn't have much time to paint, so this week I thought I'd show you another page from my Walking in my World journal.

This year I have seen 2 fascinating hollow trees on my walks - still alive and prospering. This is one...

Who lives here?

I wonder. It looks like it would make some fairies a great home! Do chipmunks reside within? Or maybe this is the tree that Alice fell into?  So magical to see such a hollow tree.

Hope you all have a great time at Paint Party Friday. I will try to be more timely visiting this week (though I am writing a paper so I may be focused on that... then again, I may need distractions because of that...)

  1. I like hollow trees too. Your sketch leaves me wondering who's in there as well. I remember when my daughter left for college....it was hard. Yes time does go by way too quickly. Happy PPF. :-)

  3. Ahhh this is so pretty! I love the knot on the tree. I know what its like to let go of your little girl when she goes to college. When I dropped off Nelly at college I cried my eyes out all the way home!

  4. You can come by early or late, anytime is wonderful, I love the premise this hole in the tree sets up, like the story goes beyond the 2 dimensional... it works on the imagination! Pleased your daughter is starting 2nd year uni, you must hate to leave but I bet you really look forward to that next break you get back together for catch up :) Lovely post Eva!

  7. We have a massive hollow tree in our woods... well, part of it, because the top half fell a few years ago. Most of the base is still there... my kids (4 & 6) can fit inside, one at a time. It's fun to imagine what 'could' live there. Love your sketch and imagination :)

  13. I feel your pain with a daughter in 2nd year uni, but it was better this year. Your hollow tree is fascinating, don't think I've ever seen one of those in real life.

  14. Nice sketch; I like hollow trees too. Saw some hollow olive trees in Italy; still alive and making olives but you could see all the way through the base of them!

  19. Lovely job catching the depth and shadow of that hollow space. Makes me want to go out and build a little fairy house. (though last time I did this I ended up with poison ivy from finger tips to elbows!)

  22. Your hollow tree is really magical! I think squirrels live up in the branches so I'm guessing it may be something larger that lives there! Your painting is really great.

  23. I forgot again to shift to wordpress for my signature, so this comment is a duplicate or sorts. Your hollow tree really is magical. I think that squirrels live up in the branches so I'm thinking something larger might live in the hole! Your painting is so beautiful. Faye

  35. It is not only the sea but the trees that carry the magic on the breeze and everything else in between that mother nature brings. How lovely to come upon such a magical secret place surely belonging to a little tiny creature.
You did a great job on this. Thanks for sharing!
