Sunday Sketching 21Sept2010 The Sea Awaits

Here is my little effort for Sunday Sketching with Sophia at Blue Chair Diary.

As always, my scanner in't great with pencil and I don't press hard enough but double clicking on the image makes it a bit clearer!

I just got my Sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project this week. Are all you Sunday Sketchers participating?

  1. Hello Eva,

I have the same problem with my sketches. I don't want to press so hard that it shows when I add color. Sometimes I can take a photo and edit it to make the lines darker....

Sweet sketch, holds a wonderful summery feeling of the beach.

  2. Hi Eva,

She looks ready to take on the sea! Great job on her legs and arms, both of which are difficult for me!

Smiles and have a wonderful day!

  3. Eva, thanks for stopping by. I love this sketch, very well done. I have not tried a person from the back yet, for some reason it seems intimidating. Looking forward to seeing your sketchbook.

  4. I love water sketches and yours is so fresh and in the moment! I am also in the sketchbook program..glad u got you r book!.I also prefer to photograph my work with my digital camera because then you can lighten or darken it in th e camera program...shouldl be able to do that in photoshop to if u r scanning? Anyway, nice work!

  5. Great sketch...the title is wonderful...The Waiting Sea. She looks a bit overwhelmed.

  6. This is a great sketch. Figurative work is wonderful - and she really portrays a mood! Proportion is good!

  7. This sketch makes me wish summer would last a little bit longer :)

I just started working on the sketchbook project too... What is your theme?

p.s. I adjust the exposure on my pencil sketch scans on picnik.com

  8. Dearest Eva, your sketch is gorgeous! I also love that piece you submitted to Inspiration Avenue's simplicity challenge. Really gorgeous. Have a lovely merry happy week and love to yoU!

  9. Congrats on exploring and stretching yourself! Your sea girl is lovely. I wouldn't dare to try sketching--I'm not good with a pencil at all. Thanks for your kind words on my blog. Have a wonderfully creative week.

  10. Really wonderful sketch! It has a great, calm mood to it :) ~Lauren

  11. I hope she enjoys her swim!!!

I have though about doing the Sketchbook Project, still wondering and thinking....

also, sometimes scan black and white sketches to color mode...just a thought....scanning can be difficult

  12. It's so great to see you back! :) Love your little sketch. I think I need to take a trip to the ocean and get lost in the waves and wind for awhile!

  13. Is the sea cold I wonder? Are there seals and dolphins peeking their heads out of the water to watch for her arrival ahead of their play? Love the anticipation of this. Yes, I'm sketchbooking too - though I haven't got very far yet!

Looking forward to hearing from you!
